Mediafire Express Review

Unknown | Wednesday, March 07, 2012 | 0 comments
Mediafire express is the new file uploading tool developed by Mediafire (Free cloud storage service). This tool is made only for uploading files into you Mediafire cloud account. With this tool you don't have to open the mediafire page in your browser for uploading. It is a desktop application and you will be able to upload without opening your browser. Means less fears of browser crash during upload. Here is the documentation video form the mediafire team

As Mediafire describes, with this Mediafire express tool (still in beta version) you will enjoy the benefits like,

MediaFire Express can upload files from our computer to your MediaFire account without requiring you to open your browser.

  • New users can create a MediaFire account during installation.
  • MediaFire Express users can switch between MediaFire accounts.
  • Users can select an upload destination folder from within their “My Files” folder hierarchy.
  • Users can upload a file via a right click menu on File Explorer’s (on Windows) or Finder (on the Mac).
  • Users can upload a file by dragging and dropping it on the MediaFire Express’ Drop Zone.
  • MediaFire Express avoids contributing to desktop clutter by hiding its windows when it is idle.
  • Progress bars make it easy for users to monitor file upload progress.
  • Users can invoke the MediaFire Expresses Screenshot tool from (1) the keyboard, (2) a button located on the MediaFire Express’ Drop-Zone, or via a systray menu.
  • Quickly open your “My Files” page with a click of a button.
  • MediaFire Express dynamically throttles-back upload rates as necessary so as to avoid reducing Quality of Service on slow DSL links.
  • MediaFire Express’ Screenshot Tool captures images of (1) the entire desktop, (2) an application’s window, or (3) a user defined area and then (1) uploads the screenshot to your MediaFire account for sharing, (2) saves the screenshot to disk or (3) sends the image to the printer for a hard copy.
  • Most salient feature I like that is uploaders' can pause their upload whenever they want to & start from the point at where he paused it. even it auto pauses when your PC goes to sleep and start again(manually) when you power it up. Previously in browser upload or any other 3rd party uploading tool was not giving this feature. It is a great plus point for Mediafire Express.
There are several more options like SSL uploads, Change in number of concurrent uploads, File upload preferences & more. These are the pro's of the Mediafire Express tool. now lets talk about the cons of the tool.
The tool does not offer to choose folder where you want to upload files. Each time to go to upload you have to change the default folder which is annoying I think. :-/
The tool doesn't show the uploading speed as the browser uploader used to show.
The tool gives links as a bulk. Like this
http://www.mediafire.com/?sa65s4as51a,d68sad5,s65ds68dsd,8684u65ghj,89hh51h0 etc..
in ascending order according to their sizes. Giving links for individual files would be great update.
Well overall I liked the tool and hope some updates for the above con's I have stated above. A great tool to use & you must try it.
